Mavericks to Host Grand Canyon

The Omaha Mavericks are set to host the Grand Canyon Antelopes at home on Caniglia Field Monday, Sept. 4 at 7 p.m.

» Theo Klein recorded his first goal of the season against UCI on Thursday.
» Martin Lago notched his first career point with the assist on Klein's goal.
» Omaha will enter the home match against GCU with a 0-3-0 overall record.   
» Sokol Ymeraj netted both goals scored for the Mavericks last weekend during the Incarnate Word and Houston Christian matches. Ymeraj is currently the team leader in shots on goal with three and a .500 shot percentage.
» Ymeraj is ranked 23rd in the country out of 117 for goals per game and 30th nationally for shot accuracy.
» Theo Klein leads the team in shots with six. 
» Lute Lillo Portero has recorded four saves on the season.
» The Mavericks were tabbed third in the Summit League preseason poll for the second year in a row. They sit behind Denver and Oral Roberts, respectively.
» Defenders Gonzalo Cuevas and Kyle Reese were selected as this year's players to watch.
» Cuevas was named to the All-Summit First Team and All-Newcomer Team. He started in 15 matches where he helped post five shutouts. He was the team leader in assists and netted one goal last season. 
» Reese earned All-Summit League honorable mention honors. He started in 14 games and helped post five shutouts, and held opponents to a 1.44 goals against average. 
» Omaha added 10 newcomers during the off season, replacing nine Mavericks from the prior year. 
» Tied games will result in a draw following regulation. Overtime will not be played in the regular season.

Scouting the Grand Canyon Antelopes
Last weekend GCU lost both of their road matches falling to a 0-2-0 record. The Antelopes fell to both Wake Forest 1-3 and Denver 0-3. GCU ended last year's campaign 7-8-3 overall and 4-3-2 in their conference play.

Antelopes to Watch 
» Returning sophomore Bright Nutornutsi has been the only Antelope to score on the season thus far. He was also in the top three on the team last season with six points. 
» Freshman Jorge Lopez recorded his first collegiate point with an assist on Nutornutsi's goal. In addition to his assist Lopez had one shot on goal against Denver.

Antelope Goalkeeping
Leon Schmidt, returning junior goalkeeper, played the full 180 minutes during last weekend's matches. He saved 10 shots while allowing six goals. He currently holds a 3.00 goals against average, .625 save percent, and a 0-2-0 record.

Series History
Omaha has the upper hand over GCU as they have historically gone 2-1. The teams last met Aug. 25, 2017 in Omaha where the Mavericks took the win 2-1 in overtime.
