LEADING OFF
The Omaha Mavericks will open their regular season with a two road matches. First up the slate, the Mavericks will face Incarnate Word on Thursday, Aug. 24. They will follow up with their second road game on Sunday, Aug. 27 as they are set to take on Houston Christian.
QUICK KICKS
» The Mavericks were tabbed third in the Summit League preseason poll for the second year in a row. They sit behind Denver and Oral Roberts, respectively.
» Defenders Gonzalo Cuevas and Kyle Reese were selected as this year's players to watch
» Cuevas was named to the All-Summit First Team and All-Newcomer Team. He started in 15 matches where he helped post five shutouts. He was the team leader in assists and netted one goal last season.
» Reese earned All-Summit League honorable mention honors. He started in 14 games and helped post five shutouts, and held opponents to a 1.44 goals against average.
» Omaha added 10 newcomers during the off season, replacing nine Mavericks from the prior year.
» UNO posted a 8-6-2 overall record and a 5-2-1 finish in league play. The team finished third in Summit League Tournament last fall, after a defeat by Denver the defending champions.
» Tied games will result in a draw following regulation. Overtime will not be played in the regular season.
SCOUTING THE INCARNATE WORD CARDINALS
The Cardinals finished their 2022 campaign with a 2-13-1 overall record. Their two victories came from a 2-1 win over Santa Clara University and a 2-0 shutout over Utah Tech.
CARDINALS TO WATCH
» Of the returners, Eduardo Perez led the Cardinals with six points and two assists. He was tied for second on the team with two goals.
» Sello Diphoko was tied for second on the team with two goals scored last season. He played in 11 games and finished with six shots on goal.
CARDINAL GOALKEEPING
The Cardinals will return their leading goalkeeper, Hugo Constant. He played in 14 games, recording over 1192 minutes. He led the team with 56 saves and finished the season with a 3-9-1 record.

The Mavericks hold a 2-0 lead over Incarnate Word. The teams last matched up on Nov. 14, 2014, where Omaha took home a 2-0 shutout.
