Men's Basketball Signs Biko Johnson

Jun 23, 2023

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Men's basketball team continues to add more talent ahead of the 2023-24 season as head coach Chris Crutchfield announced the signing of Biko Johnson today. Johnson is now the fourth newcomer to join the Mavericks for the upcoming season.

"Biko is a late pick up from JC, will give us added depth and experience at the PG position," remarked Crutchfield. "Ultra quick and fast PG that can play with great pace."

Biko hails from Carson, California, and comes to us by way of Western Nebraska Community College. After attending King-Drew Senior High School, Biko took his talents to Western Nebraska where in year one he averaged 12.4 points, 2.9 assists, and 4.6 rebounds a game. In year two he averaged 13.7 points, 3.5 assists, and 4.6 rebounds a game, earning him All-conference honors. Biko was also voted to the All-Tournament team and All-Nebraska team after his sophomore season of play at Western, and led the Cougars to back-to-back Region IX Tournament appearances. Overall, he profiles as a shifty point guard that brings experience and athleticism to the Mavericks back court.

Biko is the youngest in his family of six, including his mother Ronna Johnson, father Kenneth Johnson and three sisters, Krystal, Khenedi, and Imani.

"He will be a guy that will excite the fans with his athleticism and explosiveness," added Crutchfield. "We are excited to work with him this summer."
