GREELEY, Colo. - The Mavericks opened their final series of the season on Thursday with a loss as Northern Colorado topped them 13-3 in seven innings.
Omaha is now tied with Western Illinois for the fourth and final spot for the Summit League Tournament at 20-25 overall and 8-13 in the conference, while the Bears manage to keep their playoff hopes alive as they improve to 10-33 with a 7-15 conference record.
Innings 1-3
The Mavericks had multiple chances to score early on, getting four hits in the first two innings, but were unable to capitalize on their opportunities. Meanwhile, Northern Colorado got off to a blistering start, scoring six runs in the first two innings.
Innings 4-7
It was not until the fourth inning that the Mavericks got on the board when
Brennen Bales and
Eddie Satisky got into scoring position and were driven in on a two-out single from
Eduardo Rosario. In the bottom of the fourth, though, the Bears picked up three more runs to go up 9-2. After being held scoreless in the fifth, Northern Colorado put up a four spot in the sixth to go up 13-2, before holding Omaha to a single run from
Drew Reetz in the seventh to enact the 10-run rule.

With two RBIs today, Rosario has now reached 30 total on the season, doing so for the second time in his career.
Mike Boeve went 2-3 today to pick up his 19th multi-hit game of the season. He had 20 such games in both of his prior seasons.
