The Omaha Women's Tennis squad battled the Marquette Golden Eagles Saturday afternoon. In a close contest, Omaha fell just short to Marquette, 4-3.
"Tough match, but we competed really well. We finally played some great doubles and got the point," Omaha head coach
Adam Summitt said. "That was a big point of emphasis today. We need that point to get going. Marquette just played solid in singles. They're all big hitters and could set up points well. I don't feel that we beat ourselves today. Marquette really earned it. We just have to keep being better and trusting one another."
After securing the doubles point with a pair of 6-4 victories from
Ines Absisan/
Jessica Aragon and
Alexia Di Giulio/
Addison Miller, the Mavericks got two more points in singles.
Alexia Di Giulio won a three set thriller and
Jessica Aragon took care of business with a 6-2, 6-2 two set victory.
Omaha will play a pair of Summit League matches next week when they meet Western Illinois on Friday April 7 and St. Thomas on April 9. Both matches will be on the road.
