Mavericks' Season Ends in Summit League Quarterfinal

Sioux Falls, S.D.— No. 10 seed Omaha Mavericks fall to No. 2 South Dakota State in the quarterfinal round of the Summit League Men's Basketball Championship Saturday night.

Omaha's season ends with a 63-55 loss to the Jackrabbits at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls.

Omaha Leaders

Jaeden Marshall led all scorers with a career-high 19 points. Fifteen of those points came from three-point range, where Marshall went 5-11. Frankie Fidler earned his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 12 rebounds. All 12 of those rebounds were on the defensive side of the floor.


South Dakota State Leaders

Alex Arians scored 18 points for the Jackrabbits, going a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line. Zeke Mayo scored 14 points, shooting 3-16 from the field and 0-8 from three-point range. Mayo went 8-10 at the free throw line and led the team with nine rebounds. Matt Dentlinger and Charlie Easley each picked up eight rebounds.


Team Stats
The Mavericks shot 35 percent while the Jackrabbits shot 29.8 percent. Omaha averaged 34.5 percent from the arc, while South Dakota State averaged 29.6.

Omaha narrowly out-rebounded South Dakota State 39-38. The Jackrabbits led in points off turnovers (13-5), second chance points (9-3) and bench points (15-10).

Inside the First Half
The Mavericks opened the scoring with a 5-0 run in the first 2:37 of play. The Jackrabbits immediately responded with their largest scoring run of the game, an 11-0 run over the next 2:01. Omaha would take to the three-point line to battle back, going 9-16 from the arc. Jaeden Marshall sank five threes en route to a career-high 19 points in the first half. The Jackrabbits went 6-15 from three-point range and a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe. The teams traded blows throughout the first 20 minutes, with five lead changes and four times tied. They would head into the locker room with the Jackrabbits leading 40-39.


Inside the Second Half
Out of the break, the Mavericks worked the ball into the paint. Dylan Brougham scored five-straight points to give Omaha a 44-43 lead with 17:09 to play. The Jackrabbits responded at the free throw line, going 11-16 to close out the game.
