Mavericks Defeat Creighton in Midweek Clash

Omaha, Neb.-- The Omaha softball team defeated the Creighton Bluejays at Connie Claussen Field on Wednesday, Mar. 22. Dominant pitching from Mavericks' ace Kamryn Meyer and clutch hits from Ava Rongisch and Sydney Albaugh helped secure the victory over their crosstown rival.

How it Happened 

  • A couple of singles and two walks plated Creighton's lone run in the top of the first inning.  

  • Ava Rongisch responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the second to tie the game at 1-1. 

  • After a Rongisch walk to start the bottom of the fourth, Sydney Albaugh sent a double down the left field line to drive in the eventual winning run. 

Game Notes 

  • Kamryn Meyer pitched her seventh complete game of the season, earning her sixth win of the year. 

  • Meyer added nine strikeouts to her career total, which now stands at 599. 

  • Ava Rongisch's second-inning home run was her first of the season. 

  • With their third straight victory over the Blujays, Omaha moves to 4-2 against Creighton since transitioning to Division I. 

  • The Mavericks have not lost to the Bluejays at Connie Claussen Field.
