Omaha, Neb.-- The Omaha women's tennis team fell to Kansas City in a duel at Miracle Hill tennis center on Sunday by a score of 5-2. 

"It was a tough battle with Kansas City today," head coach Adam Summit said. "Today's match was going to be a fifty-fifty battle. UMKC was better at starting the match and getting the lead right away. We just fell behind and played catch up all day, and it is hard to win when we are doing that on six courts. We fought well, but just came up short. Glad to have a long break this week as the team needs it." 

Jessica Aragon earned the lone singles victory for the Mavericks, defeating the Roos' M. Xibilia. Aragon dropped the first set 6-3 but battled back to take the last two sets by scores of 6-2, and 7-6. 

The Mavericks earned the doubles point with two victories on the wide court. Ines Absisan and Zoe Adkins won over L. Munoz-Baroja and and M. Xibilia by a score of 6-3. Keegan VanPelt and Addison Meyer earned the second doubles victory over J. Cardona and K. Miley (6-4). 

The Mavericks have 12 days off before they return to Miracle Hill tennis center for another Summit League duel against North Dakota. The Mavericks and Fighting Hawks square off at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Mar. 24.
