Sugar Land, Texas—The Omaha women's golf team returns to Texas for the final time in 2023 for the HCU Husky Invitational on Monday and Tuesday, Mar. 13-14.
Format
The HCU Husky Invitational, hosted by Houston Christian, is a two-day, 54-hole event. The first 36 holes will be played on Monday, with the final 18 on Tuesday. Both days begin with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Field
Fifteen teams make up the field, including Illinois State, UT Arlington, Omaha, Tarleton State, UTEP, UTRGV, Texas A&M Corpus Christi, Texas A&M Commerce, Charleston Southern, Sam Houston State, Bradley, Houston Christian, Louisiana Monroe, Appalachian State and Lamar.
Lineup
These five Mavericks have filled the lineup all season, averaging 310.2 strokes per round as a team. Through 21 rounds, these Mavericks have the best scoring average in program history.
Nicole Hansen led the Mavericks at the UTRGV Invitational. Hansen posted a three-round score of 230, taking a share of 28th place on the leaderboard. Nicole looks to lead the Mavericks for the third-straight tournament this week.
Emily Karmazin recorded an even 71 in the second round of the UTRGV Invitational for the third par-or-better round of her freshman campaign. Karmazin finished in 45th place with a three-round total of 235.
Macarena Garcia scored 244 last time out. The freshman has a low round of 68 on the season, which currently sits as the lowest single-round score in program history.
Sydney Taake recorded a 246 over three rounds last week. Taake has led the Mavericks in two events this season, earning three top-20 finishes as well.
Mika Miyata shot a 54-hole score of 248 at UTRGV. Miyata has a career-best scoring average of 79.3 through 21 rounds this season.
