Mavericks Open Bulldog Invitational 2-0

The Omaha Mavericks Softball squad opened up the Bulldog Invitational with a pair of wins to improve to 12-5 on the season. The Mavericks defeated Southeastern Louisiana 3-2 and East Tennessee State, 6-1. 

Game One: Omaha 3, Southeastern Louisiana 2
How It Happened
  • The Mavericks jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 2nd inning after an RBI double from Sydney Ross and an RBI single up the middle from Marra Cramer
  • SLU tied the game at 2-2 in the 3rd inning off a double to left center
  • In the bottom of the 3rd, Lynsey Tucker scored on a wild pitch. It would up being the game winning run
  • After the Mavericks took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd, Pitcher Kamryn Meyer did not allow another hit for the rest of the game
Game Notes
  • Kamryn Meyer pitched another complete game today improving to 4-3 on the season
  • Meyer retired 15 batters via strikeout today. It's the most strikeouts by a Maverick pitcher since Meyer struckout 19 batters against South Dakota on April 23, 2022
  • Lynsey Tucker, Rachel Weber and Sydney Ross all went 2-3 today's contest against Southeastern Louisiana

How It Happened
  • Sophie Cerveny opened Game 2 scoring with an RBI double down the left field line to break the 0-0 deadlock in the top of the 5th inning. Alex Olson tallied the run
  • Maggie O'Brien extended the lead to 2-0 with an RBI single bringing home Cerveny
  • ETSU scored their one run of the game in the bottom of the 5th inning
  • With the bases juiced in the top of the 7th inning, Rachel Weber destroyed a ball out of the park for a Grand Slam to make it 6-1

  • Sydney Nuismer earned her sixth victory of the season tossing a complete game allowing just six hits and one earned run
  • Maggie O'Brien, Lynsey Tucker and Alex Olson each had multi-hit games tonight
  • Omaha set a season high for double plays turned this afternoon with three
