Fort Worth, TX. - The Omaha Mavericks fell to TCU in Wednesday night's game 96-56.
Omaha falls to a 4-7 overall record on the season.
Leaders For Omaha
Omaha was led by the only double-digit point scorer,
Cora Olsen, with 12 points. Olsen went 2-of-5 on field goals and 7-of-9 on free throws.
Grace Cave notched four assists on the night and
Deanay Watson recorded seven rebounds.
Leaders for TCU
Sedona Prince scored a double-double for TCU with 26 points and 17 rebounds. Jaden Owens also scored a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists. The third double-double of the night went to Aaliyah Roberson with 14 points and 12 rebounds.
Team Stats
The Mavericks trailed in all areas of shooting tonight, falling behind 31.6% (18-of-57) to 47.9% (34-of-71) in field goals. Behind the arc, Omaha trailed 22.2% (4-of-18) to 29% (9-of-31). On the free throw line, they fell just short 66.7% (16-of-24) to 76% (19-of-25).
Inside the First Quarter
The Mavericks had a tough start. Omaha wasn't able to capture their first basket by
Aaliyah Stanley until 2:34 after falling behind 15 points.
Grace Cave got the following basket at 1:35 after a jumper outside the arc. After a tough start the Mavericks only got nine points on the board in the first quarter.
Coming out of the flood gates strong, TCU got an early 15-0 lead. Sedona Prince led the first quarter with eight points and nine rebounds. The Frogs led field goal percentage 52% (17-of-33) to 26% (8-of-31). They also forced four of the eight turnovers by the Mavericks.
Inside the Second Quarter
Cora Olsen got the Mavericks started in the second quarter with a deep jumper at 8:27 to close the deficit to 18. Olsen scored eight of the 17 points in the second off one three-pointer, one field goal, and three free throws.
Deanay Watson blocked a layup attempt by Flores at 4:30.
TCU had its highest-scoring quarter, putting up 30 points. Scoring in the second was led by Madison Conner with nine points. Sedona Prince had one block against Allison Stephens's jump shot attempt at 0:37. The Frogs shot 56.3% in the second, making 9-of-16 shots.
Inside the Third Quarter
Coming into the second half down by 29 points the Mavericks looked to close the gap.
Kennedi Grant scored a jumper outside the paint at 8:35 with an assist by
Katie Keitges. Aside from Grant's free throws, the Mavericks wouldn't score their next basket until 5:34 when Keitges sunk a three-pointer assisted by Cave. At the end of the quarter, the Mavericks found themselves still down by 38 points.
Prince got the second half started quickly with a layup at 9:46. Prince went on to score 13 additional points in the third, notching one steal and four rebounds. The Frogs shot 47.4% (9-of-19) of their field goals in the third but struggled behind the arc with a 25% (2-of-8).
Inside the Fourth Quarter
In the fourth quarter,
Morgann Gardner got the first bucket with a second-chance layup at 9:18. The Mavericks scored six of their 16 points in the quarter off free throws, four of which came from Olsen. Omaha struggled with three-pointers, going 0-of-4. Olsen had two steals and three rebounds.
Prince once again got the quarter started with a layup at 9:31. Aaliyah Roberson would lead the quarter with seven points and four rebounds. Going 8-of-19, TCU shot 42.1% for 18 points in the fourth quarter. Their biggest lead over the Mavericks came at 2:37 after a fast break jump shot by Roberson, putting them ahead by 44. The game concluded with a layup by Manumaleuga for a 96-56 final.
