The Mavericks begin their first road trip of the season this week as they head down to Texas to face TCU.

- In their season opener, the Mavericks defeated Doan 85-63 at Baxter Arena on Monday. Among the numerous categories Omaha led in, the most notable included points in the paint (52 vs. 14) and points off turnovers (27 vs. 7). Furthermore, the team's 39 rebounds would have been the third most they had in a single game last season
- With greater depth than previous seasons, the Mavericks saw 12 players take the court vs. Doane, with each one playing for at least 10 minutes and scoring at least one bucket.
- Newcomer Nick Davis was Omaha's most hyped pickup in the offseason and did not disappoint in his debut, leading the team with 14 points (6-for-8), pulling down four boards, and recording two steals and assists each.Fellow newcomers Grant Stubblefield, Marcel Bryant, and Biko Johnson all made an appearance too, combining for 13 points (6-for-8) , eight rebounds, and five assists.
- Among Omaha's returning players, Frankie Fidler (11 points, 4-for-11) and Marquel Sutton (13 points, 5-for-7) scored double-digit points and had four rebounds each. After missing all of 2022-23 with an injury, Jamal Ambrose made his first career appearance for Omaha on Monday, playing 15 minutes and recording three points and a team-high five rebounds.
- Fidler was Omaha's lone All-Summit honoree last season, earning an Honorable Mention. He led Omaha in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (5.8 rpg), steals (1.2 spg), and free throw percentage (.887), with his FT% in particular ranking in the NCAA's top-25 for most of the season.
- Stubblefield, Bryant, Davis, and Johnson are Omaha's top newcomers coming into this season. Stubblefield was named 6A Player of the Year and First Team All-State while at Blue Valley Northwest and Bryant was named the Austin Area Player of the Year at Cedar Ridge. Johnson is coming off his second season at Western Nebraska CC where he was named All-Conference and All-Nebraska, while Davis is fresh off winning GAC Defensive Player of the Year and a trip to the Sweet 16 of the Division II NCAA Tournament with Southern Nazarene.
- Head Coach Chris Crutchfield has a 20-32 overall record. It marks his third season as a head coach and second with the Mavericks.
Scouting the TCU Horned Frogs
The Horned Frogs are fresh off their second consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance after a 22-13 season last year. They defeated Arizona State 72-70 in the first round, before falling to No. 9 Gonzaga by 81-84. Their 2023-24 campaign is currently off to a 1-0 start after topping Southern 108-75 on Monday.
Five Horned Frogs scored double-digits on Monday, led by Micah Peavy with 21 points (10-for-13). 2022-23 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention Emanuel Miller just missed a double-double with nine points and rebounds each in the game, while Jameer Nelson Jr. led the team with six assists and five steals.
Head Coach Jamie Dixon is in his eighth season leading TCU. In that time he's compiled a 140-97 record. Prior to TCU he served 13 seasons as Pitt's head coach, winning four National Coach of the Year honors.
