Mavericks Fall to Golden Eagles

Tulsa, OK. -- The Omaha Mavericks dropped the match against the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles 5-2. The Mavericks trailed early and despite their two goals, couldn't top the Golden Eagles.  

With the loss tonight, the Mavericks record their first conference loss of the season. Concluding the match Omaha is now 4-4-3 overall and 1-1-1 in Summit League play. 
 
How It Happened
    • The match started off in the Golden Eagles favor with two back-to-back corner kicks. The Mavericks were able to get on shot on goal and a corner before ORU got their first goal in the 20th minute after picking up a loose ball.
    • With their rolling momentum of the early lead the Golden Eagles found the net once again in 39th minute.
    • At the end of the first 45, the Mavericks was down 2-0 and trailed in shots 12-6. 
    • The Mavericks allowed an unassisted goal in the 52nd minute to put them behind 3-0. 
    • Just four minutes later, the Golden Eagles netted another, putting UNO at a four goal deficit.
    • After 63 scoreless minutes for the Mavericks, Theo Klein spoiled the shutout with a shot that went over the top of the keepers head. His goal was assisted by Sokol Ymeraj
    • The Golden Eagles netted their final goal of the night in the 68th minute for a 5-1 lead. 
    • Omaha's Abdi Adan responded back to the fifth goal against with a goal in the 69th minute. The Mavericks second goal was assisted again by Ymeraj. 
    • Despite a three goal disadvantage, Omaha fought for the remainder of the match and got some good looks on net, but couldn't find the back of the net and concluded the match 5-2.
     
Inside the Box
    • Omaha was outshot 18-13 and trailed shots on goal 10-8. 
    • The Mavericks had the advantage on corners 6-4.
    • Klein scored his sixth goal of the season, to take the lead as UNO's top goal scorer. 
    • Adan notched his second goal of the season.
    • Ymeraj's two assists was a career high for a single match.
    • Klein led the team with four shots and two shots on goal. 
    • Nathanael Sallah made five saves on the night.
    • Sallah falls to a 2-1-1 record.
