Omaha, Neb.— The Mavericks earned a 3-2 victory over Kansas City on Sunday, Oct. 15, netting the game-winning goal with just 19 seconds left on the scoreboard at Caniglia Field.

Omaha's record moves to 5-4-5 with the victory and 2-1-3 in conference play.

How it Happened

  • Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen bounced back with a sixth minute save in her third start of the season.

  • Reedtz followed her first save of the game with two more in the 13th and 15th minutes to end the first half with three saves.

  • Omaha worked hard to find the tying goal. Maggie Gundrsen had a shot blocked in the 23rd minute before Marissa Gohr and Grace Ostergaard had shots saved by the Roos' keeper Riley Moore.

  • In the 40th minute off of a free kick from Sophia Green, Regan Bourgeois was able to find Emilie Erland in the box, who headed the ball past Moore for her second goal of the year. (1-1)

  • Five minutes into the second half, Kansas City found the back of the net again off of Stedman's foot to take the lead. (1-2)

  • The Mavericks worked desperately to find the tying goal in half two as Kansas City began to stall. The two teams traded off-target shots as the game neared its end.

  • In the 82nd minute, Green tested the Kansas City keeper, but Moore came up with the save right on the goal line.

  • Omaha finally found the back of the net in the 85th minute off a header from Cece Behrens. Ostergaard found Grace Bartlam, who placed it perfectly for Behrens to tie the game. (2-2)

  • In the 90th minute with 19 seconds left, Marissa Gohr found the ball in the box and put it past Moore to give Omaha the late lead. Green threw the ball in to Ostergaard, who was able to work it through to Gohr for her fourth goal of the season. (3-2)
