St-Louis Nets Game Winner vs. SDSU

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha's second win of the season came Friday night following a goal from Mathis Pilon St-Louis in the 82nd minute. The Mavericks held off the Aztecs and beat San Diego State, 1-0.

With the win, Omaha improves to 2-1-0 on the year.

How It Happened
  • The opening minutes saw a foul by St-Louis in the box allowing for a SDSU penalty kick in the 2nd minute of action. Austin Brummett went low right directly into Nathanael Sallah's diving hands for the save.
  • Tristan Viviani had the next attempt in the 16th minute forcing another stop between the pipes by Sallah.
  • In the 22nd minute, Gonzalo Cuevas has Omaha's first good look on target, but he couldn't crack through Jacob Castro in goal.
  • The final 23 minutes saw only one shot on goal, and it was from Omaha's Kenji Mboma Dem but the half ended scoreless.
  • Blake Bowen challenged Sallah right out of the break, but he remained tough in goal for the Mavericks keeping the clean sheet.
  • Jules Anderson and Cuevas each recorded strikes that couldn't find the back of the net over the next 20 minutes.
  • St-Louis' magic touch came in the 82nd minute. Thore Boehm collected the ball off a bad pass from SDSU and sent the ball up the field to St-Louis. SDSU's goalkeeper was up in the box making room for St-Louis to pop it over him for the goal.
  • The Aztecs failed to find an opportunity, and Omaha won, 1-0.
