Springfield, Mo.- The Omaha women's golf team completed the third round of the Payne-Stewart Invitational at Missouri State on Tuesday.
The Mavericks finished in 13th place with a team score of 932, after totaling 303 in round three. They fall one stroke behind Murray State, who takes 12th place with 931. The tournament ended with two champions, as Missouri State and Oklahoma City tied with 879 each.
Nicole Hansen led the Mavericks with a total score of 231. The graduate transfer from Nebraska recorded a 73 (+1) in the third round to take a share of 47th place on the leaderboard. Mika Miyata also shot a 73 in round three, finishing in a tie for 54th place. A 73 in the third round is a career-low score for Miyata, and the junior's three-round total of 234 is also a career mark. Emily Karmazin finished just one stroke behind Miyata with a total score of 235 with a share of 58th place. The freshman scored an 80 in the final round of her first collegiate event.
Macarena Garcia and Sydney Taake both totaled scores of 240 and share 68th place on the leaderboard. Garcia finished her first collegiate invite with an 81 in the third round. Taake sank three birdies in the third round to end with a 77 (+5). Maddie Simon, golfing individually, shot a 78 (+6) in the third round to finish in 77th place with a total score of 244.
The Mavericks are back on the road next week at the Kelsey Chugg Invitational, hosted by Weber State. Action from Ogden, Utah begins at 8:30 A.M. next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 19-20.
