Springfield, Mo.- The Omaha women's golf team finished rounds one and two of the Payne-Stewart Invitational at Missouri State on Monday.
The Bears lead their own tournament with a team score of 590. They sit two strokes in front of UTEP, in second with 590. The Mavericks are currently in 13th place with a team score of 629, totaling 318 in the first round and improving to 311 in the second.
After an 84 in round one, freshman Emily Karmazin recorded a 71 (-1) in round two to lead the Mavericks in a tie for 47th place with a day one total of 155. Her 71 in the second round is tied for the fifth-best single-round score in program history.
Newcomers Macarena Garcia and Nicole Hansen led the Mavericks with scores of 79 (+7) in round one. Hansen, the graduate transfer from Nebraska, matched her first-round total with another 79 in round two, and currently holds a share of 57h place on the leaderboard with a two-round total of 158. Garcia, the freshman, added an 80 (+8) in the second round to end day one in a tie for 62nd place with a total score of 159.
Junior Mika Miyata and sophomore Sydney Taake recorded total scores of 161 and 163, respectively. Miyata ends day one in 63rd with an 80 in round one and an 81 in round two. Taake is in 75th with an 80 in the first round and an 83 in the second.
Golfing individually, Maddie Simon has a share of 81st place with a day-one total of 166. The sophomore shot matching scores of 83 in the first and second rounds.
