• Omaha scored first against Rutgers in its home opener Thursday night.
Ede Gramberg netted his first career goal for a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute. The Scarlet Knights responded with three goals by the 23rd minute for a 3-1 edge at halftime.
• They'd get one more in the 51st minute that was countered by
Dominik Danis in the 67th. Rutgers went on to win 4-2.

Mathis Pilon St-Louis each tallied their first career assists for Omaha.

Nathanael Sallah made five saves in goal.
• The Mavericks were tabbed third in the Summit League Preseason Poll. They were behind Denver and Oral Roberts in the standing.

Kenji Mboma Dem and Sallah were named Preseason Players to Watch.
• Mboma Dem was an All-Summit First Team selection last year. He appeared in 17 matches and totaled nine points on three goals and three assists.
• Sallah made 11 appearances between the pipes last season. He earned an All-Summit Newcomer nod and finished the year with a 4-2-0 record with 26 saves, .743 save percentage, and a .83 GAA.
• Omaha added 11 newcomers this off season replacing 15 letterwinners from the prior year.
• The Mavericks posted a 6-10-1 overall record with a 4-2-0 finish in league play. Omaha earned the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Tournament and fell in the opening round to Oral Roberts.
• Head coach
Donovan Dowling is in his first season at the helm. He was announced as the third head coach in the program's history in July. Also new to the staff is assistant coach
Josh McReynolds.
• Tied games will result in a draw following regulation. Overtime will not be played in the regular season.
SCOUTING THE OAKLAND GOLDEN GRIZZLIES
Oakland was dubbed the Horizon League preseason favorite ranking first in the preseason poll. The team finished 12-7-2 overall with an 8-1-1 record in league play in 2021. Oakland defeated UIC and Cleveland State to take the conference championship last year. The Grizzlies fell in the first round of the NCAA Tournament to NIU.
GOLDEN GRIZZLIES TO WATCH
• Mikey Ketteman notched 10 goals and three assists last season. He was tabbed All-Horizon First Team and All-North Region Third Team. He ranked 21st in the NCAA in total goals and 22nd with four game winners.
• Finn Jurak made 13 starts in goal. He posted a 1.33 GAA with 42 saves. He was 8-3-1 with two shutouts last season.

The Grizzlies lead the all-time series 1-0.
