Omaha kept its hopes for a conference tournament spot alive with a decisive effort on Senior Day.
The Mavericks (10-9) won every match in their 7-0 victory over Summit League newcomer St. Thomas Saturday to improve to 2-2 in conference play and move within a win of fourth in the league standings.
Omaha has three Summit matches remaining, two of which come against the teams directly ahead of it. North Dakota and South Dakota are both 3-2.
The Mavericks took control of Saturday's contest at Miracle Hill Tennis Center early by dominating the doubles competition to claim the first team point.
Madison Gallegos and
Ines Absisan dropped just one game at No. 1 doubles while
Natalie Lorentz and
Keegan VanPelt claimed a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot.
All four of those players also swept their singles matches, as did
Rachel Osborn in the No. 6 position.
Alexia Di Giulio won her match at No. 3 singles in a third-set tiebreaker after Omaha had clinched.
"[This was a] great win for our seniors today," Omaha coach
Adam Summitt said. "St. Thomas was down, with some players injured. But they competed really well and pushed us in some close sets.
"Everyone in the lineup competed really well and kept their focus, even when things weren't going their way. We need to keep this mentality and focus until end of the season."
