OMAHA, Neb. -
Ed Gordon becomes the second Maverick this spring to sign with Union Omaha. Gordon played five seasons with the Mavericks from 2017-21.
Gordon joins former teammate
Hugo Kametani with the organization. Kametani signed in February this year.
"I was really happy for Eddie when he called and told me he was going to get a contract," said head men's soccer coach
Bob Warming. "It takes a lot of hard work and talent to be able to sign a professional soccer contract. It takes more hard work and more talent to sign with the champions of the league. Eddie never stops working hard. That's why he continued to improve when he was here, and why he graduated from UNO with high academic honors."
Gordon earned All-Summit Second Team (2021), Summit League All-Tournament (2021), CoSIDA Academic All-District (2018, 2019, 2020), and Summit League All-Academic Team (2018, 2019, 2020) honors. He was also a member of the Summit League Honor Roll and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
Gordon appeared in 77 matches over his tenure making 46 starts. He made 15 starts in his sophomore and fifth-year campaigns. Gordon compiled three assists, 15 shots and six shots on goal. He tallied an assist in 2017, 2019, and 2021.
"That now makes four players that I've had the honor of coaching that are now playing for Union Omaha. It's going to be a lot of fun to continue watching them play and their great coach lead them!"
