GRAND FORKS, N.D. - The Omaha softball squad completed its first series sweep vs. a conference opponent since 2016. The Mavericks run-ruled the Fighting Hawks, 11-2, Sunday morning in five innings.
With the win, Omaha improves to 17-11 overall and 6-3 in league play.
How It Happened
- Both teams tallied two runs in the first inning. The Mavericks plated theirs on singles from Jamie White and Rachel Weber.
- North Dakota used a double and sac fly to knot the game 2-2.
- Omaha then exploded for six runs in the second inning blow open its lead. Izzy Eltze's double sparked the scoring rally plating Maggie O'Brien for the first run. Lynsey Tucker then walked allowing White to send a three-run blast over the fence to take a 6-3 lead.
- Sydney Ross scored later in the inning on a Weber single, while Lexi Burkhardt made it 8-2 on a wild pitch to end the scoring onslaught.
- Burkhardt struck again in the third inning with a two-run homer making it 10-2. The Mavericks added another insurance run in the fifth. Weber recorded her third hit of the game to plate Sierra Leonetti. Omaha wins, 11-2.

- Kamryn Meyer made the start and pitched the first 2.2 innings. She improves to 12-5 in the circle.
- Omaha matched its season-high 13 hits Sunday. Weber went 3-for-3 at the plate.
- Eltze, White, Burkhardt, and O'Brien tallied two hits each.

- This was the first conference series sweep since South Dakota in the 2016 season.
