KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Omaha picked up its first Summit League win of the season Saturday with a dominant 6-1 road victory against Kansas City.
The Mavericks posted victories in five of the six singles matches and also captured the doubles point while improving to 8-4 overall and 1-1 in the Summit League.
Madison Gallegos,
Ines Absisan,
Natalie Lorentz and
Keegan VanPelt recorded wins in both singles and doubles play. All but Abisisan's came in straight sets. She won her No. 2 singles match in three sets.
Omaha came from behind to claim the doubles point when Gallegos and Absisan won 6-4 in the No. 1 spot. Absisan also clinched the match for the Mavericks when she put them up 4-0 win her singles win.
"Today was a great day for us, probably some of the cleanest tennis we have played thus far," Omaha coach
Adam Summitt said. "Everyone stepped up and believed they were going to win. UMKC made the finals last year in the Summit League tournament, so we know we can compete and play with any team in the conference. [It's] just a matter of us playing like this consistently. Really proud of this group."
