Omaha fell just short in its first home match in more than a month.
The Mavericks (8-8) slipped to 1-2 in Summit League play following its 4-3 loss to Oral Roberts Saturday at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center, where they were hosting a home match for the first time since Feb. 19.
Omaha opened the day by taking the doubles point after netting wins from
Madison Gallegos and
Ines Absisan at No. 1 doubles and
Natalie Lorentz and
Keegan VanPelt in the No. 3 position. Lorentz and VanPelt also won their matches at Nos. 4 and 5 singles, respectively, but couldn't land a fourth victory.
"Tough day today," Omaha coach
Adam Summitt said. "We competed well enough to win, [it] just didn't go our way. ORU was really able to grind out a lot of points and made us work. We had a few lapses, and it costed us. We just need to learn from it and get better. We have another opportunity tomorrow to turn it around."
Saturday's contest opened a three-match weekend for the Mavericks, who host Drake and Sioux Falls Sunday.
