Omaha Closes Regular Season at St. Thomas

The Basics
The Mavericks close the regular season on the road Saturday night at St. Thomas. Omaha will look to rebound off a loss to Western Illinois and head to the Summit League Tournament with a win vs. the Tommies. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Quick Hits
• The Mavericks shot over 47 percent from the field and had four players reach double-figures to start the week. Despite the offensive success, Western Illinois converted from the foul line and took advantage of turnovers earning an 88-76 win.
Frankie Fidler extended his double-figure scoring streak to five straight games with a team-high 16 points.
Felix Lemetti added 14 points and team-high with seven boards and three assists.
Marco Smith scored 11, while Akol Arop notched 10.
• Omaha earned its fourth league win last Thursday on senior night vs. Denver. The Mavericks went down eight with 2:58 to play. Frankie Fidler then responded with 11 unanswered points and a three-point buzzer beater for the win.
• Fidler finished with 22 points and nine boards. Darrius Hughes added 14 off the bench, while Nick Ferrarini and Marco Smith tallied 11 points each.
• The Mavericks dominated the boards out rebounding the Pioneers 47-31. It marks the first time this season Omaha out rebounded an opponent by double-figures.
Akol Arop led the way with 10 rebounds. It was his third double-figure rebounding performance of the season.
• Head coach Derrin Hansen enters his 17th season at the helm. He has a 253-258 career record leading the Mavericks.
• The 2021-22 season is the 109th overall in program history and the 11th of the Mavericks' Division I era. All-time, the program is 1,207-1,345.

Scouting the St. Thomas Tommies
The Tommies are 9-20 overall and 3-14 in the Summit League as they approach their final game of the inaugural DI season. St. Thomas has league wins against Omaha, Western Illinois, and North Dakota.

Riley Miller leads the Tommies from the field scoring 15.4 points per game shooting 42 percent. He has 100 made threes on the season averaging 40.5 percent from deep. Anders Nelson adds 14.4 ppg and leads St. Thomas with 77 assists on the year.

The Tommies are led by head coach John Tauer. He is 227-70 over an 11-year career at St. Thomas.

All-Time Against St. Thomas
Omaha looks to tie the all-time series 1-1 after the Tommies took the first meeting earlier this season.

Smith scored a career-high 19 points in the loss. Fidler added 18 off the bench, while Lemetti scored 16.
