Natalie Lorentz posted Omaha's lone win in its final tune-up before Summit League play begins.
The Mavericks suffered a 6-1 loss to Illinois State Saturday at the Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
Lorentz posted a straight-sets victory over Elena Jankulovska at No. 5 singles.
Ines Absisan was the only other Omaha player to take a seat against the Redbirds, eventually falling in a tiebreaker at No. 2 singles.
"[It was a] really hard-fought match today," Omahs coach
Adam Summitt said. "Illinois state is one of the better teams we've played this year, and the way they played really confirmed it. They're very well coached and have games favorable for fast, hard indoor courts.
"We started off really slow in doubles, and that's what did us in, in my opinion. We had some really close sets that just didn't go our way today. I think getting the doubles point would have been a jump start for us going into singles play. [We] need to learn from it in order to have success against Denver."
The Mavericks travel to Denver for their conference opener on Saturday, Feb. 25.
