FARGO, N.D. – Day three of the Summit League swimming & diving championships are in the books and the Mavericks collected six more All-Summit nods, including four titles, one runner up, and one third place finish.
The Omaha women sit in third place with a score of 404, while the men rank fourth with a score of 378.
"Today was a magical day in the pool," said head coach
Todd Samland. "The women crowned its second conference champion in the history of our program with Annika in the 100 fly. We also set two new school records. We are so excited with the power and depth the women demonstrated tonight. The men were exceptional as well. We had three first-place finishes. They demonstrated some great power and depth to make today very competitive. It is so much fun watching this team exceed expectations"
Four individual titles were earned Friday night for the Mavericks.
Annika Harthoorn and
Elijah Clements claimed the first two helping the Mavericks sweep the 100 fly event. Harthoorn captured first with a lifetime best and school record time of 54.85. She is the program's second women to capture an overall title at championships.
Clements then followed it up with a lifetime best and program best time of 47.80.
The next title came in the 100 breast.
Daniel Young nabbed his second first place finish with a time of 53.94.
Omaha's final top finish came in the 100 back.
Kody Hollingsworth cruised to the top with a personal best time of 48.31.
Gracie Streblow earned second for the women in the 100 back. She swam a school record and personal best time of 55.42 in the event.
Payton Krug captured her first top-three finish of the weekend with third in the 400-IM. Her time of 4:30.41 led the Maverick women.
The diving portion of today's schedule saw
Ian Blackstock lead Omaha in the 3M-dive. He placed seventh with a score of 268.55.
The Mavericks wrap up championship action Saturday morning. Prelims start at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m. in Fargo.
