FARGO, N.D. - Omaha swimming & diving wrapped up day two at the Summit League Championships Thursday night. The Mavericks earned two more relay medals and their first individual top-three finish.
The women continue to sit in second place after two days, while the men sit fourth overall.
"Our program is performing very well," said head coach
Todd Samland. "We are scoring some great points and posting some lifetime bests. I am very happy with the swimming and diving we saw today. We finished with silver medals in the women's and men's 400 medley relay. It was an awesome way to end the night."
Both teams took home second in the 400 medley relay Thursday night.
Gracie Streblow,
Caroline Gardner,
Annika Harthoorn, and
Hailey Matthews swam a time of 3:44.91 for the women, while
Kody Hollingsworth,
Daniel Young,
Elijah Clements, and
Owen Hoak led the men with a time of 3:15.71.
Young also earned Omaha's first individual top-three finish of the championships in the 50 free. Young placed third with a time of 20.45.
In other swimming A Finals, Matthews earned fifth in the 500 free with a time of 5:00.44, while
Payton Easley posted a time of 23.68 in the 50 free for eighth place.
The Omaha divers also had a successful night on the boards.
Darby Drake and
Reece Cooper each placed in the top-eight in the 1M-dive event. Drake's score of 257.25 claimed fourth place, while Cooper scored 228.80 for eighth.
Another round of prelims begins Saturday Friday morning at 10 a.m. with finals set for 6 p.m. in Fargo.
