OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha Baseball team has officially released its spring 2023 schedule. The Mavericks will kick things off with seven non-conference games in California at UCLA from February 17-19 and Fresno State from February 23-26, before coming home to face Kansas State on the 28th for their first of 25 games at Tal Anderson Field this season.
"We look forward to another exciting season in 2023," noted Head Coach Evan Porter. "Our non-conference schedule pairs us against some of the best teams in the country and will prepare us for another challenging Summit League season."
Omaha's non-conference schedule is further highlighted by three games with Nebraska (March 14, April 11, April 25) and two with Creighton (March 7, May 15). The first two against the Huskers will be on the road before hosting them at Tal Anderson for the final meeting, while the first game against the Bluejays will be at home and the second is across town.
The rest of the non-conference slate includes four three-game series with BYU (March 2-4), Stonehill (March 8-12), Valparaiso (March 17-19), and Lindenwood (April 21-25), and a trio of single-game contests against Arkansas (March 28), Missouri State (May 2), and Penn State (May 10).
Summit League play begins on March 24, when the Mavericks host North Dakota State for three games. Starting May 12, the Mavericks will again face NDSU for another three-game series, this time in North Dakota. Omaha will also play six conference games with Northern Colorado, playing three at home from March 31-April 2, before closing out the regular season in Colorado from May 18-20.
The Mavericks will play the rest of the Summit League teams – Oral Roberts (April 6-8 at home), South Dakota State (April 14-16 away), St. Thomas (April 28-30 away), and Western Illinois (May 5-7 at home) – three times each this year.
Following a seven-game road trip to end the regular season, the Summit League Tournament will be held from May 24-27 in Fargo, North Dakota. Omaha will look to qualify for the tournament for the third consecutive season.
"Opening Day can't come soon enough. Go Mavs!," concluded Porter.
