The Basics
The Mavericks return to action Monday night after a weekend off. Omaha heads to Iowa for a 7 p.m. tipoff that will air on the Big Ten Network. The Mavericks are looking for their first road win of the season, while the Hawkeyes sit undefeated in 2022-23 action.

Quick Hits
• JJ White put up a career-high 15 points last week in Omaha's home game with Ball State. He shot over 50 percent from the field and went 3-of-4 from deep. White also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. 
• Marquel Sutton continued his double-figure scoring streak Wednesday with 10 points vs. the Cardinals. It is now four straight games the sophomore forward reached at least 10 points in a game.
• Kennedy Brown crashed the boards and led Omaha with 10.
• The Mavericks won their first game of the 2022-23 campaign. It came in their home opener vs. Idaho. Omaha's win was powered by a 28-point, 11-rebound double-double from Frankie Fidler.
• It marked the sophomore forward's first career double-double and game with 10 or more rebounds.
• Sutton scored double-figures for the third straight game for Omaha. Against Idaho, he poured in a season-high 16 points.
• For the first time since the 2014-15 season, Omaha and Nebraska squared off for an in-state rivalry game last week. Despite getting the Husker lead under 10 points four times in the second half, the Mavericks fell, 75-61.
• Two Mavericks scored double-figures for the second straight game. Jaeden Marshall once again led the Omaha squad with 16 points, while Marquel Sutton added 14 points. Both were season-highs.
• Brown made his career debut for Omaha at Nebraska. He finished six points and six rebounds vs. the Huskers. Brown (6.0 rpg) and Sutton (5.5 rpg) are the top rebounders through the first two games for Omaha.
• The Mavericks put up a fight in the season opener getting within seven of the Jayhawks Monday night. Kansas then used two late runs to pull away with an 89-64 lead.
• Four players notched double-figures in the opener. Marshall led the team with 13 points.
• Luke Jungers scored 12 points and grabbed a team-best six boards, while JJ White tallied six dimes.
• Omaha had its first taste of competitive action this season with a home exhibition vs. Mi-America Christian last Tuesday.
• The Mavericks are under new direction this season with UNO alum Chris Crutchfield at the helm. Joining him is associate head coach Kyan Brown and assistant coaches Kenya Crandell and Warren Niles.
• Omaha was tabbed ninth in the Summit League Preseason Poll, while sophomore forward Frankie Fidler garnered Preseason All-Summit First Team honors.
• Crutchfield enters his first season at the helm with a 10-9 overall coaching record. It marks his second season as a head coach and first with the Mavericks.

Scouting the Iowa Hawkeyes
The Hawkeyes are 3-0 heading into Monday's meeting and are receiving votes in the AP Poll following wins vs. Bethune-Cookman, North Caroline A&T, and Seton Hall. Iowa has scored at least 80 points in all three games and notched a season-high 122 vs. NC A&T on Friday, Nov. 11.

Five players are averaging double-figures. Iowa is led by Kris Murray at 21.7 points per game. He's shooting over 56 percent from the field and 41 percent from deep. Murray is also grabbing 8.3 rebounds per game. He scored a season-high 29 points at Seton Hall and completed the double-double with 11 rebounds. 

Fran McCaffery is in his 27th overall season and 13th leading the Hawkeyes. At the helm of Iowa, he hols a 245-162 record. His overall head coaching record sits 496-339.

The Hawkeyes lead the all-time series 2-1. Omaha took a 98-89 win in the last meeting during the 2016-17 season.
