Mavericks, Roos Draw Saturday Night

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Both the Mavericks and Roos found the back of the net in the second half of Saturday's match forcing a 1-1 draw. Mathis Pilon St-Louis scored for Omaha in the 55th minute.

With the draw, the Mavericks improve to 7-5-2 overall, 4-2-1 in the league.

How It Happened
  • Omaha tallied 10 shots in each half Saturday night with seven shots on goal. Theo Klein led the Mavericks with six shots, four of which came in the first 45.
  • Tevin Rochester recorded the first two shots of the match including a strike on target in the 26th minute.
  • Klein, Kenji Mboma Dem, and Gonzalo Cuevas challenged the Roos with three straight attempts over the next two minutes.
  • Klein's first shot on goal came in the 30th minute but it was scooped up by Cooper Clark in goal. In the 44th minute, Klein took the ball up the middle of the field through a cluster of Roos. His final shot of the half wouldn't connect, and the match was tied, 0-0, at the break.
  • Omaha recorded six shots in the opening 10 minutes of the second half before the seventh found the net. St-Louis fired a shot at the 54:13 mark that was blocked. The rebound came right back to him for the goal in the 55th minute.
  • Joan Castells almost evened the match in the 87th minute on a ball that went through Lute Lillo Portero's legs. Portero was able to stop the ball before it crossed the goal line.
  • It didn't matter for the Roos as two minutes later Kazuki Kimura netted the equalizer. Neither team would take another shot, and it ended in a 1-1 draw.
