Omaha Nets Five Goals in Shutout vs. Lindenwood

OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha offense exploded for five goals Wednesday night in a shutout vs. Lindenwood. Theo Klein scored two on the night, including the game winner just 2:25 into the match.

With the win, the Mavericks improve to 7-5-1 overall, 4-2-0 in the Summit League.

How It Happened
  • Wednesday's match was over in the first three minutes of action with the game winner off Klein's head. Gonzalo Cuevas passed from five yards out of the box to Tevin Rochester who headed the ball down for Klein to score in the low right of the net.
  • Klein made it 2-0 in the 10th minute with his second straight goal. Kenji Mboma Dem made the pass to Klein who back-to-back shots. He netted the second one after a deflection off the Lindenwood goalkeeper.
  • Tevin Rochester tallied another two points on the night with a goal in the 23rd minute. Mboma Dem took a corner kick for Omaha placing the ball inside the goal area for Rochester to head in. The Mavericks took a 3-0 lead.
  • The first half scoring wasn't over until the 45th minute. Mathis Pilon St-Louis added his name to the box score with the fourth goal of the match. Ede Gramberg fed the ball to St-Louis at the top of the box for a wide open strike that found the back of the net low left.
  • Logan Doerr ended the first half with Lindenwood's second shot on goal attempt, but Lute Lillo Portero recorded a save to keep a 4-0 edge for Omaha at halftime.
  • Omaha tallied six more shots on target by the 70th minute in the second half, while the Lions had two off target in that same time frame.
  • At the 83:54 mark, Tomas Restrepo added one more to the scoreboard for Omaha. He took the ball up the middle of the box and passed to Joe Vokins who used two touches before passing back to Restrepo in the goal area for a wide open look. The Mavericks went on to win, 5-0.

Inside the Box Score
  • Klein tallied goals four and five of the season. He led Omaha with four points tonight.
  • Rochester recorded three points on a goal and assist.
  • St-Louis, Restrepo, and Mboma Dem recorded two points each. St-Louis and Restrepo's were on goals, while Mboma Dem had two assists.
  • Vokins recorded an assist for one point. It was his first career assist and point for the Mavericks.
  • Restrepo's goal marks his first career goal.
  • Omaha led on shots, 23-5, with 13 shots on goal.
  • St-Louis tallied five attempts, while Klein had four.
  • Portero gets the win and shutout for Omaha in goal. He made one save in 45 minutes.
  • Nathanael Sallah played the second half and made one save.
