OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha men's soccer team blanked St. Thomas Saturday night for its third shutout of the season. A late goal from
Kenji Mboma Dem secured the 1-0 win vs. the Tommies.
With the win, Omaha improves to 6-4-1 overall, 3-1-0 in the Summit League.
How It Happened
- The Mavericks dominated the first half vs. the Tommies with a 9-4 shot advantage. Tevin Rochester placed the first shot on goal at the five minute mark. He recorded another in the 29th minute, while Theo Klein and Sam Pollard each took strikes on target early in the half.
- In the 42nd minute, Wes Lorrens recorded the first shot on goal for the Tommies, but a Maverick defender stepped up for a team save, and the match was scoreless heading into the halftime break.
- Just 53 seconds into the second half, Mboma Dem nearly snagged the lead for Omaha, but Tucker Mann made the save.
- Mann wouldn't make the stop on Mboma Dem's next attempt in the 75th minute. Klein fed the ball through three Tommies to Mboma Dem at the top center of the box who had a wide open look for the 1-0 lead.
- Rochester and Mathis Pilon St-Louis attempted to increase the Maverick lead in the final 10 minutes, while the Tommies didn't see another shot on goal. Omaha went on to win, 1-0.
