Hansen Announces Brandon as Director of Operations

OMAHA, Neb. – Head men's basketball coach Derrin Hansen completes his staff with the hiring of Caleb Brandon. Brandon joined the Mavericks as a director of operations starting in August 2021.

"I'm excited to announce Caleb as our new director of basketball operations," said Hansen. "He is no stranger to the program having been our head manager two years ago. Caleb spent a year with York College helping refine his skills, his work ethic, and his organization. We are thrilled his love for Maverick basketball guided him back home to Omaha."

Brandon returns to Omaha following a year long stint at York College as a graduate assistant for the men's basketball team. While at York, he was responsible for coaching the developmental team, assisting the varsity team, organizing travel, and recruiting players.

During his time with Omaha, Brandon assumed two roles with the men's basketball program. From December 2019 to April 2020, he served as a volunteer assistant director of basketball operations. He assisted the program with organizing travel and meals, managing game and practice film, and monitored student managers.

Brandon also served as a student manager from August 2018 to December 2019 with the Mavericks. He helped edit practice and game film, assured all equipment was ready for use, and assisted with the summer basketball camps.

"My staff and I look forward to working again with Caleb, to help him progress in this profession, but also work beside him to make a great experience for our student athletes."

Brandon was a 2019 graduate at Omaha with a Bachelor's Degree in multidisciplinary studies with a concentration in business. He is currently working toward his Master's Degree in global and organizational leadership at York.

"I am honored and humbled to rejoin the Omaha Basketball family," said Brandon. "I want to thank Coach Hansen and the entire staff for being great mentors to me over the years. They really push me to be the best I can be. Their work ethic, focus, and attention to details inspires me. What they have established over the years is really special, and I am glad to now be apart it. Coaching alongside of them is a dream come true.

"Omaha has always been home for me. This is where I grew up, and this is where my heart is. I am excited to represent my hometown doing what I love to do, and most importantly serve the Maverick Community. Let's Go Mavericks!"
