Eberhart Steps Down as Head Softball Coach

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha Athletics announced Friday afternoon that Amanda Eberhart is stepping down as head coach of the Omaha softball team.
 
Eberhart will pursue a new opportunity as the head softball coach at Valparaiso.

"I'm grateful for my time at Omaha," said Eberhart. "We overcame various challenges during my time here and our hard work paid off this season reaching the league's championship game. I'm excited to watch this program continue to grow from afar and achieve great things both on and off the field. I'm also thankful for the mentorship and support of Connie Claussen. She helped make my time at Omaha a special one, and I appreciate all she's done for the program and sport itself."
  
In her three seasons at the helm, Eberhart led the Mavericks to a 36-83 overall record and the first Summit League championship game appearance in program history in the spring of 2021. She also coached one NFCA All-Region selection, five All-Conference honorees, and four All-Tournament Team members during her tenure.
 
Most recently, Omaha finished the 2021 season 20-28 overall and 12-11 finish in conference action earning them the No. 2 seed in the Summit League Tournament. The Mavericks advanced to the championship after downing No. 6 North Dakota and No. 4 Kansas City in the first two rounds. The Mavericks' season ended vs. the top seeded South Dakota State in their first ever Summit League championship appearance.
 
Eberhart joined the Omaha staff following coaching stints at Purdue, IUPUI, Northwestern, and UIC.
 
As a player, Eberhart earned Third-Team All-America, All- Great Lakes Region first team, Horizon League Player of the Year and Horizon League Tournament MVP honors as a senior after posting a season record 20 home runs and 58 RBI.
 
She set the UIC career record for home runs (52) and hit by pitch (35) while ranking second in RBI (193) and walks (125). Eberhart was a four-time all-region honoree (2001-04) as a designated player and a four-time All- Horizon League honoree, earning first team accolades in 2001, 2002 and 2004 and second team honors in 2003.
