OMAHA, Neb. -- The Omaha men's basketball program released its 2021-22 Summit League slate in conjunction with the entire league schedule announced Wednesday.
The 18-game schedule features a home-and-home mirrored schedule between the league's 10 men's and women's programs. The addition of St. Thomas, who will officially join the league as a full-time member on July 1, creates an even number of teams and true travel partners for the upcoming season.
"We're looking forward to returning to a sense of normalcy this season," head coach
Derrin Hansen said. "St. Thomas joining the league gives us an even 10 teams, and the Thursday/Saturday scheduling creates consistency for us with travel. With that and the roster we have set for 2021-22, we're excited to ready our program for what's ahead."
League play opens Dec. 20 at home when the Mavericks welcome the Tommies to Baxter Arena on a rare Monday night, followed by Western Illinois (Dec. 22) that Wednesday.
Omaha then hits the road to close 2021 at Kansas City (Dec. 30) and rings in the new year at 2021 NCAA Sweet Sixteen participant Oral Roberts (Jan. 1).
Another home weekend then brings in North Dakota (Jan. 6) and North Dakota State (Jan. 8). The Mavericks continue with a three-game road swing at South Dakota State (Jan. 13) and defending Summit League regular-season champion South Dakota (Jan. 15) as well as Denver (Jan. 22).
The second half opens with Oral Roberts (Jan. 27) and Kansas City (Jan. 29) at home, followed by visits to North Dakota State (Feb. 3) and North Dakota (Feb. 5).
Three games make up the Mavericks' final home stand against South Dakota (Feb. 10), South Dakota (Feb. 12) and Denver (Feb. 19). One last road swing caps the regular season at Western Illinois (Feb. 24) and St. Thomas (Feb. 26).
