OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha softball posts another sweep on the year picking up two wins Friday afternoon vs. South Dakota. The Mavericks cruised to a 6-2 win in game one, and walked-off game two, 3-2, in the seventh.
With the two wins, Omaha improves to 17-25, 11-10 SL on the year. They move into second in the Summit League standings with one day of regular season play left on the schedule.
Game 1: Omaha 6, South Dakota 2
How It Happened
- The Mavericks found their groove early scoring three runs on three hits in the bottom of the second. Lexi Burkhardt gave Omaha a base runner with a one-out walk. She scored on the next at-bat with an RBI double from Diana Murtha. Murtha then scored on a single to left field from Sydney Ross, and Ross made it a 3-0 lead after scoring on a single from Emily Klosterman.
- Jamie White kept the momentum rolling into the third and tallied another run for Omaha. She sent a solo shot to left field putting the Mavericks up 4-0.
- The Coyotes broke their scoreless streak in the fourth. Wobken tripled down the left field line and scored on Moser's double to right center cutting the Omaha lead to three.
- Lynsey Tucker and Izzy Eltze used RBI singles in the fourth to plate Omaha's final two runs of the game. USD tallied one more in the seventh, but Omaha held on for the 6-2 win.

- Omaha out-hit USD 9-4.
- The Mavericks were led by Diana Murtha who went 2-for-3 and was the only player to record multiple hits.
- Ross was the lone Maverick to tally two runs. Her run in the second inning was the game winning run.
- Burkhardt finished 1-for-1 with a run scored. She was walked twice.
- Ross (2), Eltze, and Emily Klosterman finished with stolen bases for Omaha.
- In the circle, Kamryn Meyer pitched a complete game. She improves to 8-8 and recorded five strikeouts.
Game 2: Omaha 3, South Dakota 2
How It Happened
- The teams combined for six hits through the first five innings of action, but game two's fate came down to the final inning and a half.
- The Mavericks plated the first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Taylor Johnson led off with a double to left center. Olivia Aden entered to pinch run. Aden advanced to third on a sac bunt from Burkhardt, and she went on to score on a RBI single from Allison Helton.
- USD responded in the seventh with a DeWitte two-run homer to take a 2-1 edge over Omaha.
- In the bottom of the seventh, Omaha gained Tucker and Eltze as base runners. White doubled to plate Tucker for the tying run, while White would score the winning run on a walk-off sac fly from Burkhardt to end the game. Omaha won 3-2.

- White and Helton each finished with two hits each. White added a double, RBI, and run scored.
- Eltze (2) and Klosterman each recorded stolen bases for the Mavericks.
