OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior
Matt Pile was named to the 2021 Academic All-District 7 Men's Basketball First Team on Thursday, it was announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The team was selected by a vote of sports information directors whose institutions are located within CoSIDA District 7, which includes the states of Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.
It marks the third straight inclusion on an Academic All-District team for Pile, who now advances to the Academic All-America ballot and will be considered for national accolades later this month. Previously a two-time Academic All-American, Pile earned third-team recognition in 2019 and first-team honors in 2020.
Pile is Omaha's eighth Academic All-District selection in program history. The Mavericks have earned four all-district awards in the Division I era.
Pile carries a 3.95 grade-point average and will graduate this weekend with his bachelor's degree in chemistry. He will attend medical school this fall at UNMC.
In his Maverick career, Pile was a three-time Academic All-Summit pick and has been a member of the UNO Dean's List and Chancellor's List, the NABC Honors Court and the Summit League's Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner's List of Academic Excellence.
