Omaha Clinches Berth in Summit League Final

DENVER, Colo. – The Omaha men's tennis team advanced to the Summit League Final, upsetting No. 2 Drake 4-0 on Friday afternoon in the Summit League Championship Semifinal match in Denver.
 
The win improves the Mavericks to 13-16 on the year while the Bulldogs end the season 7-7.
 
With the victory, Omaha advances to the Summit League Championship Final for the first time since 2017.
 
Doubles Play
Hugo Piles Ballester and Davis Lawley began play on the doubles courts with a 6-3 win in the No. 2 spot for the Mavericks. Omaha clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win by Philip Olsson and Ethan Henry in the No. 3 spot.
 
Singles Play
Piles Ballester doubled the Omaha lead with a straight-set win over Evan Fragistas in the No. 3 spot. Shortly after, Olsson collected a 6-2, 6-3 victory against Gabriel Sardo in the No. 5 match to stretch the Maverick lead to 3-0.
 
Abdoul Ouattara suffered a first-set loss before bouncing back with a 6-1 win in the second set in the No. 2 spot. Ouattara carried the momentum into the decisive set while posting a 6-2 victory to seal the match for the third-seeded Mavericks.

The Mavericks battle top-seeded Denver tomorrow in the Summit League Championship Final. Tomorrow's match is set for 11 a.m. at Denver Tennis Park in Denver, Colo.
