OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha baseball team stretched the win streak to four with a dominant 11-1 run-rule victory over Western Illinois in seven innings on Friday night at Tal Anderson Field.
The win moves the Mavericks to 16-16 (8-5 Summit League) while the Leathernecks drop to 9-21 (5-12).
How it Happened
- Omaha opened the scoring in the first frame, drawing the bases loaded without a single hit before Keil Krumwiede was hit by the pitch to plate Masen Prososki.
- The Mavericks added three in the fourth when Prososki blasted a three-run homer to right after back-to-back singles by Grant Goldston and Harrison Denk.
- Parker Smejkal and Krumwiede began the bottom of the fifth with consecutive walks and later scored on a two-RBI single by Eduardo Rosario to make it a 6-0 lead for Omaha.
- Western Illinois scored its lone run of the game with a solo home run in the top of the sixth.
- Omaha tacked on four runs in the sixth, starting with a bases loaded walk by Smejkal and a two-RBI single by Krumwiede.
- Brett Bonar lifted a sacrifice fly to foul territory in right to bring home Smejkal and score Omaha's 10th run of the game.
- Mike Boeve reached on a fielder's choice in the seventh and later reached third on a wild pickoff throw. Boeve sealed the run-rule win for the Mavericks after coming home on a balk.

- Rosario went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI while Denk went 2-for-4 with two runs.
- Prososki and Krumwiede each had a hit and three RBI on the night while Boeve and Smejkal touched home twice.
- Holetz improved to 3-2 on the season after tossing the complete-game win.
- Holetz struck out four and only allowed one run on five hits without issuing a walk.
