Mavericks Set To Host Creighton Wednesday

OMAHA, Neb. - The Mavericks welcome crosstown rival Creighton to Connie Claussen Field Wednesday. The teams meet for a non-conference contest set to start at 4 p.m. Both the Mavericks and Bluejays are looking to rebound off a loss before resuming conference action.

Leading Off
  • Emily Klosterman was named the Summit League Player of the Week following her performance vs. Western Illinois. The senior shortstop posted a batting average of .727 over the four games. She totaled eight hits, including three multi-base hits, four RBI, one run, and two stolen bases over the four games.
  • Klosterman went 8-for-11 at the plate. She finished 3-for-3 in game three of the series with the Leathernecks. She is currently on an eight-game hitting streak. Klosterman has tallied an extra-base hit in three straight games.
  • Omaha's 9-1 win in six innings vs. Western Illinois marks the fifth time this season the Mavericks have won a run-rule game. Omaha posted six runs in the sixth for the walk off.
  • Lynsey Tucker and Klosterman are tied for fifth in the Summit League with seven stolen bases this season. 
  • Sydney Nuismer and Sydney Hampton continue to rank in the top-10 pitchers for ERA. Nuismer has a 3.92 ERA to rank sixth, while Hampton ranks ninth with a 4.13 ERA.
  • Over 75 innings pitched, Kamryn Meyer has retired 109 batters both of which are in the top-10. Her innings pitched sits seventh while strikeouts ranks fourth.
Scouting the Creighton Bluejays
The Bluejays are 13-11 heading into Wednesday's contest. Creighton dropped three in a row vs. DePaul. Their last win came against the Mavericks last week at Creighton, 4-2. The Bluejays sit in fourth place in the Big East standings. They are 8-7 in conference action. Creighton has a series sweep vs. Seton Hall and two wins vs. St. John's.

Bluejays To Watch
  • Ashley Cantu is hitting .450 on the year. She has 36 hits, including one double, two triples, and two homers. Cantu has 13 RBI and 16 runs scored.
  • Kailey Wilson is hitting .423 with 30 hits, including seven homers, which is a team high. Wilson has a team-leading 24 RBI.
  •  All of the Bluejay starters have at least 10 hits this season. 
  • Parker Boyd has made 13 starts and pitched seven complete games over 16 appearances. She has a 4.89 ERA and is 6-8 on the year. Over 77.1 innings pitched, Boyd has retired 75 strikeouts and a shutout.
On Deck
The Mavericks open an eight-game road trip at North Dakota State this weekend with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday beginning at 12 p.m. both days.
