OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha put two goals on the board in the first 15 minutes of Friday's match, but Western Illinois scored back-to-back with less than 10 minutes left in regulation to force overtime. The match ended in a 2-2 draw.
The Mavericks are now 7-4-4 on the year.
How It Happened
- Andrea Daves came out of the gates putting the first goal in the back of the net in the fourth minute. Daves took a pass from Jordyn West into the box and sent a shot low right past the keeper to put Omaha up 1-0.
- Ten minutes later, Sophia Green made it a 2-0 game in Omaha's favor. Regan Zimmers sent a pass from the centerline to Green running down the middle of the field. Two steps into the box, Green fired away right into the center of the net for the Mavericks' second of the match.
- Amy Andrews put the Leathernecks on the board with her first goal of the match in the 80th minute. She struck again in the 82nd minute to knot the match and force overtime.
- Green recorded the only shot in the first overtime period, but it was off target. Green then nearly won the match with a shot on goal that was kicked away by the Western Illinois goalkeeper. The Mavericks and Leathernecks finished in a 2-2 draw.
