OMAHA, Neb. – The Mavericks earned the No. 3 seed in the Summit League Tournament and will take on the No. 2 seeded South Dakota State Jackrabbits in the semifinals. Omaha is hosting the tournament and the teams will play at 5 p.m. at Caniglia Field. The Mavericks look to advance to the championship game for the second time under head coach Tim Walters with a win vs. SDSU.

  • The Mavericks clinched a spot in the tournament with their 2-2 draw and 1-0 win vs. Western Illinois to close regular season action.
  • Six Mavericks earned All-Conference honors Wednesday morning. Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen and Sophia Green earned Goalkeeper of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year, respectively. Olesen was named All-Summit First Team, while Green picked up second team honors.

Scouting the South Dakota State Jackrabbits
South Dakota State enters the Summit League tournament undefeated on the year with a record of 12-0-4. The Jackrabbits played to two 0-0 double overtime draws with the Mavericks to open 2020-21 action. They also tied one match with Denver, 1-1, and one match with South Dakota, 1-1. SDSU earned the No. 2 seed and are the defending Summit League Champions.
 
Jackrabbits to Watch
  • SDSU's Gabby Vivier-Hannay was named the Summit League Defensive Player of the Year Wednesday morning. She has started all 16 matches as a core member of the Jackrabbit defense. Vivier-Hannay has helped SDSU post 11 shutouts this season and remain undefeated on the year.
  • Maya Hansen and Kayla Wisniewski lead the Jackrabbits with 16 points this season. Each have seven goals and two assists. Hansen earned First Team All-Summit honors, while Wisniewski was named to the second team.
  • Three goalies have split time between the pipes with Taylor Lock leading the way. She has logged minutes in all 16 matches for the Jackrabbits. Lock has posted a .47 goals against average with 11 shutouts this season. She's tallied 16 saves with a .800 save percentage. Lock is 9-0-1 in goal.
 
Series History
Omaha leads the all-time series with SDSU, 7-6-3. The teams opened the 2020-21 slate together. They played to two consecutive 0-0 double overtime draws.
 
In game one, the Mavericks out-shot the Jackrabbits 17-8 and 4-3 on goal. Sophia Green lead Omaha with four shots, while Rachel Hewitt and Abigail Kastens tallied two each for SDSU. In goal, Madeline Smith logged 110 minutes and made two saves. Taylor Lock and Hailee Fischer split time. Over 45 minutes, Lock made one save, while Fischer finished the match and tallied three.
 
In game two, SDSU out-shot Omaha 19-8 and 7-4 on goal. Hewitt posted a match-leading five shots with two on goal. Regan Zimmers and Grace Ostergaard each recorded two for Omaha. In goal, Mia Reedtz Rehde Olesen tallied a career-best seven saves, while Fischer and Lock split time again and made two stops each.
