OMAHA, Neb. – The Mavericks take a break from Summit League play to travel across town to take on the Creighton Bluejays. It marks the first meeting between the teams this season as the first match-up was postponed due to weather and then canceled due to COVID-19 protocols. First pitch is set for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14.
Leading Off
- Omaha dropped four games at South Dakota State last weekend falling to 7-20 (2-6) on the year.
- Sydney Ross led the Mavericks at the plate batting .429 over three games played. She totaled three hits, including a homer, three RBI, and two runs scored.
- Jamie White and Alexa Sedlak each hit .375 going 3-for-8 over four games played for the Mavericks. White was walked six times. Sedlak tallied two stolen bases.
- Sydney Hampton pitched a complete 8.2 innings for Omaha in game three of the series. It was the first time the Mavericks went to extras all season.
- Hampton moved up to fifth in the Summit League with a 3.63 ERA on the year. She retired five batters over 8.2 innings of work. Hampton also ranks fifth in opponent batting average. She's holding her opponents to .269 at the plate.
- Kamryn Meyer made two starts and retired 13 batters over 9.2 innings of work vs. the Jackrabbits. She moves up to fourth on the leader boards with 93 this season.
- Lynsey Tucker and Emily Klosterman rank in the Summit League top-10 players in stolen bases. Tucker has totaled seven this season and tied for fifth, while Klosterman is tied ninth with five on the leaderboards.
Scouting the Creighton Bluejays
Creighton has won five of its last six games, which includes a sweep over Big East member Seton Hall. The Bluejays took their series 2-1 with St. John's. Creighton leads the Big East hitting .302. Creighton is 6-3 on its home turf this season and will close a nine-game home stand with the Mavericks this week.
