Mavericks Continue Summit League Play vs. NDSU

Omaha returns to Summit League action this weekend, hosting North Dakota State at Tal Anderson Field. The Mavericks and Bison will play a doubleheader on Friday beginning at 3 p.m. and single games on Saturday and Sunday. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.

Around the Horn
  • Omaha is 8-12 (3-1 Summit League) on the season after dropping a series at Wichita State last weekend.
  • Chris Esposito leads the league with five homers and is second with a .352 batting average and .690 slugging percentage and third with 22 RBI.

Scouting the North Dakota State Bison
The North Dakota State Bison come into the weekend with a 16-6 overall record and 5-3 mark in Summit League play. Bennett Hostetler is hitting a league-high .447 with eight doubles, a triple, three homers and 23 RBI. Jake Malec is hitting .341 at the plate with three doubles, three triples and two homers while Peter Brookshaw and Jack Simonsen have three and two home runs, respectively.
 
Evan Sankey is 3-0 on the mound in five starts on the season with a 1.95 ERA and 37 strikeouts in 27.2 innings. Cade Feeney is 3-0 in six starts while Ben Smith is 4-1 in six starts. Wyatt Nelson has a team-high four saves on the season.
 
As a team, the Bison are hitting .278 with 152 runs, 210 hits, 36 doubles, four triples and 12 home runs in 22 games. The NDSU pitching staff has a combined ERA of 4.11 with 181 strikeouts while allowing 100 runs, 84 earned, on 177 hits in 184 innings.
 
Head coach Tod Brown is in his 14th season at North Dakota State and has an overall record of 315-337.
 
Series History
The Mavericks lead the all-time series over the Bison, 40-39. In their last meeting, Omaha won 2-1 in 13 innings on May 5, 2019 in Fargo.
