OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team garnered the fourth NCAA Tournament bid in program history on Sunday, earning a spot in the NCAA West Regional in Loveland, Colo.

The Mavericks are the fourth seed in the regional and will face the top seed, Minnesota, in the first round on Saturday, March 27 at 9 p.m. CT.  The game will air live on ESPNU.

The other half of the regional features Minnesota State of the WCHA and Quinnipiac of the ECAC who will play on Saturday at 3 p.m. CT.  The winners of the two first-round games will face each other on Sunday for a berth in the Frozen Four in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Omaha last appeared in NCAA tournament play in 2015 when it earned a spot in the NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Frozen Four in Boston, Mass. for the first time in program history.  The Mavericks got there by beating Harvard and RIT in the Midwest Regional where they were the No. 2 seed.  They would go on to lose to eventual national champion Providence in the semifinals.

The Mavericks also appeared in the NCAA tournament in 2006 and 2011, each time losing in the first round of the regionals.  They were the fourth and third seed, respectively, in those regionals.

Omaha finished fourth in the NCHC with a record of 14-9-1-4-0 (1) and went 14-10-1 overall.  It was their highest conference finish since the 2014-15 season when they finished third.
