Mavericks Head to Central Arkansas for Five-Game Tournament

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha travels to Conway, Arkansas for the Michelle Short Memorial Classic hosted by Central Arkansas. The Mavericks will play three teams over a five game stretch.
 
Weekend Schedule
First on the slate, Omaha will play Central Arkansas Thursday, Feb. 25 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Arkansas – Pine Bluff at 2 p.m. Friday's action will feature two games starting with Missouri State at 10 a.m. and Pine Bluff immediately following the first game. Omaha and Missouri State will play once more on Saturday at 10 a.m. to cap the tournament.
 
Leading Off
  • Omaha opened the season at the UNI Dome Tournament Feb. 12-14. The Mavericks fell 0-4 on the year with losses to Butler, Iowa State, Drake, and UNI over the four-game stretch.
  • Rachel Weber led the team on the weekend batting .444. She went 4-for-9 at the plate, including a 3-for-3 showing vs. UNI. Weber tallied two doubles.
  • Jamie White hit .364 with four hits, including a double. She tallied one RBI on the weekend, too.
  • Lynsey Tucker led the team with three of the five runs scored over the four games. She also hit .333 with four total hits and an RBI.
  • Sydney Hampton made her season debut in the opener vs. Butler. She pitched 6.1 innings against the Bulldogs and retired nine batters. Hampton tallied 15 strikeouts on the weekend. She fell to 0-2 to start the year.
  • Kamryn Meyer made starts vs. Iowa State and Drake. She recorded seven strikeouts in both games vs. the Cyclones and the Bulldogs. She finished with 21 strikeouts on the weekend and fell to 0-2.
Personal Bests
A couple players notched new career-bests in the season opening weekend. Kamryn Meyer tallied seven strikeouts in back-to-back games vs. Iowa State and Drake. Her previous high was six strikeouts set in her debut season with Omaha. Rachel Weber went 3-for-3 at the plate at UNI, which matches her career-best three hits set in her freshman season playing at Missouri State.
 
On Deck
Omaha will travel to Oklahoma State for the OSU/Tulsa Invitational. The Mavericks will play Oklahoma State twice, Tulsa twice, and New Mexico State once over the five game slate scheduled March 5 through March 7.
