OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha men's tennis team posted a 5-2 victory over Creighton on Friday night.
The win moves the Mavericks to 4-5 on the season while the Bluejays fall to 2-3.
Doubles Play
The Bluejays took the first doubles match in the No. 2 spot with a 6-3 victory.
Philip Olsson and
Julian Kenzlers collected a 7-6 victory in the No. 3 spot to tie doubles play up at one. In the decision No. 1 match,
Matt Hulme and
Abdoul Ouattara improved to 7-1 on the season with a dramatic 7-6 win to clinch the doubles point for Omaha.
Singles Play
Creighton tied the match up at one with a victory in the No. 6 spot. The Mavericks responded when
Hugo Piles Ballester garnered a straight-set victory (6-1, 7-5) over Jose Oscar Diaz in the No. 3 spot.
CU's Armando Gandini recorded a straight-set win in the No. 5 spot to lock the Bluejays and Mavericks in a tie at two. After dropping his first set, Hulme battled black to claim victory (3-6, 6-4, 6-3) in the No. 2 spot over Matthew Lanahan.
Ouattara sealed the victory for Omaha with a straight-set victory (6-2, 7-6) over Stratton Brown in the No. 1 spot. Rounding out the match,
Davis Lawley won in three sets (6-4, 1-6, 7-6) over Shin Inoue in the No. 4 spot to clinch the 5-2 win for the Mavericks.

The Mavericks continue play this weekend with a home match against Air Force tomorrow night at 7 p.m. at Miracle Hill Tennis Center.
