BROOKINGS, S.D. – The Omaha track & field team posted a number of lifetime bests in a return to action at the SDSU Indoor Classic at South Dakota State on Saturday.

The Mavericks, who had not competed in two weeks, got three bests in the mile and four in the 3,000 meters.  Jaycee Schettler led the parade of lifetime bests with three.

"The coaches we really pleased how the team responded after not competing for two weeks," said head coach Chris Richardson. "We had a lot of people do a lot of good things. After the meet, I told the team that success comes with consistency, and this year has been anything but consistent.

"For them to do what they did today showed a lot of heart and desire."

Schettler led a group of four Mavericks in the shot put, achieving a PR of 39-03 which put her 14th.

On the track, she was fifth in the 600 meters in a lifetime best time of 1:40.71 and was seventh in the 200 meters with a time of 26.18, also a PR.

Schettler was one of three Mavericks to run the 600.  Scarlett Hill posted a lifetime best time of 1:42.12 to finish seventh while Vanessa Gunderson ran a time of 1:44.48 in the event, also a lifetime best.
