OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha softball takes a quick trip over the state line to open 2021 action at the UNI Dome Tournament. The Mavericks will see four different opponents over the four-game stretch spanning Feb. 12-14.
Weekend Schedule
Omaha opens the season Friday at 9 a.m. with a morning match-up vs. Butler. The Mavericks will be back in action Saturday with a 12:30 p.m. first pitch vs. Iowa State. A pair of Sunday games vs. Drake at 1:30 p.m. and host UNI at 3:45 p.m. will conclude the first weekend of action. The Mavericks were supposed to see UNI Saturday night as well, but that game has been canceled due to a rearrangement of games.

Leading Off
- Omaha travels across the state line for their first tournament of the season. The Mavericks will see four different opponents over a four-game stretch at the UNI Dome Tournament.
- Omaha was selected fourth in the Summit League Preseason Poll after received 19 points from the head coaches.
- The Mavs finished last season 12-12 before it ended early, which marked an eight game turn around in the win column from the prior season.
- Head coach Amanda Eberhart enters her third season at the helm and seventh overall as a head coach. She surpassed 100 career wins last season in the season opener vs. IUPUI.
- Sydney Hampton and Jamie White were named preseason players to watch by the Summit League.
- Hampton enters her senior season with the Mavericks. She made 14 starts in the circle last year posting a 10-4 record.
- White started all 24 games for Omaha last year. She hit .317 on the year with six doubles, eight homers, and 26 RBI.
- The Mavericks will call the Connie Claussen Field home this season. Omaha will host crosstown rival Creighton for the first game on its new turf March 17.
Starting Strong
The Mavericks are 32-19 in season openers in the history of the program. Since transitioning to Division I, Omaha holds a 6-3 record in openers. Friday's game vs. Butler marks the first time Omaha has opened a season with the Bulldogs and only the second meeting between the teams in all-time history. The Mavericks and Bulldogs battled last season for their first ever meeting at the Rambler Rumble with Butler escaping with a 3-2 win.
On Deck
Next on the slate for the mavericks is a trip to St. Louis, Missouri. Omaha will play Drake and Saint Louis twice in the Billiken Spring Tournament.
