The Omaha women's basketball team will look for their third straight win when they take on the College of Saint Mary Sunday afternoon at Baxter Arena at 2 p.m. The Mavericks are coming off a 67-56 win over Tennessee State in their 2021-22 home opener Thursday afternoon. • Omaha got their second straight victory Thursday (12/2) against Tennessee State in their first game at Baxter Arena this season. The Mavericks were led by three Mavericks in double-digits, Kennedi Grant, Mariah Murdie and Elena Pilakouta
• Murdie scored 16 points against the Lady Tigers and hauled in 13 rebounds. It was the second straight double-digit rebounding game for her and the sixth double-double of her career.
• The freshman Grant recorded the first double-double of her young Maverick career with career-highs in points (13) and rebounds (11). It was just the second game for Grant after sitting out the first four games with an injury.
• Pilakouta continued her solid play against Tennessee State, reaching double-digits in points for the second straight game. After scoring a career-high 32 points against UIC, she scored 13 against the Lady Tigers to go along with seven boards.
• The Mavericks rolled out a different lineup for the third consecutive game against Tennessee State. Sam Mitchell made her first career start in a Mavericks uniform.
• The Mavericks return four starters from last season's squad but have several new faces for the 2021-22 season including five freshman and two junior transfers.
• Omaha was tabbed eighth in the Summit League Preseason Poll. The Mavericks finished last season 7-13 overall with a 4-8 league finish. They earned the eighth seed in the Summit League Tournament last spring and advanced to the Championship game before falling to South Dakota.
Scouting the College of Saint Mary
• The College of Saint Mary is coming off a 78-69 win over Dordt University to improve their record to 9-2. The Flames are led by Alyssa Marsh-Contreras and Honnah Leo who average 13 and 12.9 points per game respectively. The Flames compete in the Great Plains Athletic Conference in the NAIA and the matchup with the Mavericks will count as an exhibition game on their schedule.
• Head coach Kirk Walker is in his fourth season in charge of the College of Saint Mary. Walker served as an assistant coach with the Mavericks from 2014-17.

Omaha and the College of Saint Mary have faced off 27 times with the Mavericks holding a 26-1 advantage. The Mavericks won the last meeting between the two teams 81-58 (12/3/17) at Baxter Arena.
